The Main Gallery features work by members of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. WSNC is a non-profit art organization that was founded to promote watercolor artists throughout the state of North Carolina, and to elevate the standards of excellence for the benefit of artists, collectors, and appreciators of the visual arts. Formed in 1972, the Society has grown from its 18 charter members to an active membership of over 400. This exhibit displays the work of watercolorists that were juried into the prestigious Watercolor Society of North Carolina Annual Exhibit by Mary Whyte. It features 32 watercolor artists and some of the highest quality watercolors in the state of North Carolina.
ARTWORKS GALLERY: Spreading our Wings is hosted in the Upstairs and Hallway Galleries. Featuring works by 20 artists from Artworks Gallery, Winston-Salem, NC. Artworks Gallery is an artist-run cooperative gallery located in Winston-Salem’s downtown arts district since 1984.The Gallery is committed to offering local artists of all media a creative and responsive environment in which to exhibit and sell their work. There are usually from twenty to twenty-five members. The Gallery is located in the Ron Propst Studio Building and includes the studios and shops of painters, potters, photographers, calligraphers, and sculptors.
An article in the Winston-Salem Journal on the occasion of the Gallery’s fifteenth anniversary exhibition in 1999 explained that: “Since Artworks Gallery opened its doors, it has been a constant presence in the art-based commercial district that has grown up around Sixth and Trade Streets.”
The Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery is hosting the Annual High School Art Exhibit with art work by students from many of our area high schools.
