History & Mission

The History of TAG

Theatre Art Galleries (TAG) began as a program of the High Point Area Arts Council. In 1992, Theatre Art Galleries was incorporated as a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. TAG is now in its 24th year of independent operation. Since the opening of the High Point Theatre facility in 1975, Theatre Art Galleries has been High Point’s primary provider of visual arts. The High Point Theatre offers a wide range of performing arts throughout the year that complement TAG’s visual art exhibits. This powerful combination makes the facility one of the region’s premier destinations for visual and performing arts.

TAG’s Mission Statement

Theatre Art Galleries, Inc. (TAG) of High Point, NC provides quality visual art exhibitions and educational experiences for the enrichment of the entire community.

Housed inside the High Point Theatre in downtown High Point, Theatre Art Galleries hosts exhibitions of visual art from local, regional, and internationally recognized artists. In two floors of spacious galleries, TAG programs approximately 16 exhibitions yearly featuring solo and group shows. Our Exhibition Committee chooses artists to exhibit through a jury selection process. Interested artists will find more information on this process on the “Artists” page.

Exhibitions are free of charge and open to the public.

These exhibits have come and gone but will not be forgotten!
