After teaching adult and youth classes at the Art Alliance of Greensboro for 20 years I decided to step down in May of 2021 to concentrate on my personal body of work. I was able to combine and share my BA in Education from Western Michigan University and my love of clay with the creative students in my classes. I am excited to be a part of TAG’s new pottery at Congdon Yards.
My education in ceramics includes classes at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, Sawtooth School for Visual Art in Winston-Salem, NC, Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC, and with Susan Snyder in Bloomington, IN. Workshops with Ellen Shankin, Lisa Orr, Suze Lindsay, Kent Mc Laughlin, Michael Simon, Byron Temple, Sunshine Cobb and others have enhanced my exploration in clay. I feel that there is always something more to learn and share when clay is the medium.
Some of my whimsical pots reflect the nuances of people who gather together, nature in my gardens, and need for function . My pottery occupies quiet places in my garden, on my table, or in my home.
