Learn and watch a paste paper demo to capture the essence of this historic surface design technique for paper. Then jump in and have fun creating your own stack of papers.
With this offering learn to create colorants from vegetable dyes which were first used in the late sixteenth century and pigments from other familiar plant dye colors that are easily accessible. Explore creating with more familiar paints like tempera, watercolor and acrylic and how to combine plant color with these other art supplies.
If new to book arts or not this class offers a look at constructing a hard bound book with Coptic stitch binding using decorative papers you have personally created in class.
