Event Details

The Art Gallery at Congdon Yards TAG) is proud to announce the opening of “Soul of Appalachia – Perspectives from Western North Carolina,” an exhibit featuring 18 talented artists from across Western North Carolina. This compelling showcase highlights the rich artistic heritage of Appalachia, where small communities have long been havens for creative expression.

From the traditional crafts of Penland to the avant-garde art of Black Mountain College and the murals and makers of Asheville’s River Arts District, artists have gathered and flourished, leaving a lasting impact on the region’s cultural landscape.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Western North Carolina’s resilience and generosity shone brightly, inspiring many. This exhibit pays tribute to the spirit of the region and the artists, craftspeople, makers, and families who are the true “Soul of Appalachia.”
