Michaela Hafley is an artist, teacher, and currently the education director with TAG. Having received her B.A. from Centre College in Danville, KY, she and her husband moved to Greensboro, NC, to pursue their teaching careers. Michaela earned her teaching license from UNC at Greensboro and recently complete her Master of Art Education from ECU. She was named Art Educator of the Year for Guilford County Schools in 2012 and recently retired from the public school system. Michaela started with TAG in January of 2022.
Michaela’s art philosophy is that everyone is an artist and that art takes many forms. She believes in “practice with purpose” and encourages play and experimentation in art-making. Many are familiar with “happy accidents” (thank you, Bob Ross!) and as one of her students shared, “mistakes can become masterpieces”. She enjoys watching students of all ages progress and find pride in something they made.
On her own time, Michaela enjoys working with a variety of art materials from watercolors and collage to linoleum prints and clay, just to name a few. Michaela believes she is skilled in many art forms but a master of none. She is a perpetual student and loves to continue learn while sharing what she knows.
