Event Details

Anna Bryant is a visual artist working in print media. She creates and teaches in her studio in Asheville, NC, where her practice centers on the material and emotional residue of place.

The loss of Anna’s studio to the floodwaters of Hurricane Helene in September 2024 marked a turning point in her practice. In the time that followed, she began to focus on the life of a space during that suspended moment after destruction and before what comes next. From that in-between, this body of work began to take shape.

This collection traces an ongoing fascination with structure and memory. She is drawn to the tension between the rigidity of form and the softness that color can lend, creating a quiet dialogue of processing the meaning of permanence and impermanence within a physical space.

Bryant’s work reflects a deep sensitivity to place, to the rooms and landscapes that quietly hold traces of what has passed through them. These spaces bear silent witness, preserving an imprint of a moment in time. She explores how memory inhabits form, capturing the sensation of returning to a place and how it feels to brush against the edges of a past life.
