Intermediate handbuilding is a 6-week session that focuses on refining fundamental skills with clay (pinching, coiling, slab construction) to create more complex, precise, and larger functional or sculptural ceramic forms. Key areas include advanced surface design (sgraffito, mishima, printmaking, texturing), structural engineering for pieces.
Students with solid handbuilding experience who have taken Beginning Handbuilding at TAG are welcome to work independently with guided instruction and consultation for specific projects.
Please bring any pottery tools you have, an old hand towel, a small bucket, and your enthusiasm and creativity.
Each student will receive 25 lbs. of clay. Glazes and firing are included in the class fee, as well as open studio time.
