This one day workshop is on September 26.
Celebrate your favorite companion by creating a one-of-a-kind portrait using the expressive and unexpected possibilities of collage.
In this hands-on one-day workshop, participants will transform a beloved pet’s photograph into a unique mixed-media portrait using layers of paper, color, pattern, texture, and found imagery. Rather than creating a traditional realistic portrait, we’ll explore how collage can capture the personality, spirit, and character that makes your pet special.
Through demonstrations and guided exercises, you’ll learn how to simplify a photographic image into shapes and forms, build a strong composition, select colors and papers, create texture and dimension, and layer materials to develop your portrait. We’ll also explore how unexpected colors, patterns, and marks can add personality and visual interest to the finished piece.
No previous art experience is necessary. Whether your companion is a dog, cat, bird, or another beloved animal, this workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels.
Bring a favorite photograph of your pet and leave with a meaningful, handmade work of art celebrating the animal who holds a special place in your life.
